Internal School Communications
There are several ways the school communicates internally with staff and students. Every day, the lead secretary emails a newsletter, The Blues News, to the entire staff. This newsletter contains birthdays, staff absences and substitute coverage, and other important information. In order to reduce the number of emails that are sent out to the entire staff, staff members are asked to email their information to the lead secretary and she will include this information in the daily newsletter. The administration also sends out a weekly newsletter with important instructional information, events, or professional development opportunities. Each department has a chair that participates in district-level department meetings and then shares the information with that department at school. Each grade level has two team leads. These leads, in addition to department chairs, participate in the Ligon Core Team (leadership) meetings and then bring the information back to their teams. Staff members use email regularly to communicate with each other and students. Students receive important information as needed through their homeroom teacher. Students participate in homeroom each day. Students are also given a syllabus at the beginning of each course that outlines assignments, tests, homework, among other important information. There are several bulletin boards throughout the school where different clubs will post information.
